Our objectiveis to develop strategies and policies to help minority serving institutions (MSI) and primarily white institutions (PWI) develop authentic, sustainable partnerships that are mutuallybeneficial for faculty and students.
This two-day workshop will allow invited faculty from MSIs and PWIs along with experienced facilitators to interactanddevelop a set of models for forming MSI/PWI partnerships: what types of partnerships are good (e.g. beneficial to both sides, sustainable, practical, etc.) and what are the best practices for implementing such partnerships? We will also ask participants to develop specific proposals, andseed funding will be available to help implement selected partnership models. We also believe the workshop will help develop a network of MSI/PWI partnership champions.
Examples of types of partnerships or relationships:
- PI to PI research collaborations
- Sending undergraduate students for REU
- Teaching
- Mentoring
- Networking
- Bridge undergraduate to graduate school
- Other ideas are welcome!
